Each year 25 - 30% of our guests have stayed at Bramblewood or Blackberry (our other cottage next door) previously, which is a high return rate for self catering cottages in general .

We are not complacent though, and we continually improve our accommodation  to ensure our guests enjoy their return visits even more!

Here is a selection of comments either from Blackberry's guest book, or emailed directly to us.
We'll be posting more comments throughout the season.

We are grateful to the following guests for giving us permission to use their comments:

It's always hard to find somewhere that doesn't allow dogs, so we were delighted to find Bramblewood via an internet search. Plenty of good information before our stay.

What a great service to have a shop deliver such delicious food for our arrival - Lansdown Diary is excellent and we went back later in the week for more supplies. The Lansdown Bakery opposite has fantastic scones too of you haven't had your fill of cream teas.

Our 12 year old had two great days of surf tuition with the Big Blue Surf School - definitely recommend them. And she looked forward to garlic butter prawns at 'Life's a Beach' afterwards. The boys went off to the Ivy Leaf golf range to hit a few balls, then boating at the Canal Basin in Bude.

Enjoyed swimming pool on our return each evening
S McNaughton, July 2010

What a lovely cottage, everything we needed had been provided. Trevalgas is a hidden gem!

We have had a wonderful time in Bude & will definitely be back. The girls had a brilliant time body boarding and also made use of the pool & games facilities.

We have had enjoyable trips to RHS Rosemoor and Port Issac. Megan wants to recommend the Gnome Reserve - a good laugh especially if you decide to wear the gnome hats!!

Thanks Katherine - a lot of thought has gone into Bramblewood.
The Kelly Family, June 2010

What a wonderfully equipped, clean and cosy cottage ! Very thoughtful little touches: - tea, coffee, sugar, biccies on arrival - very welcome after a 4 hour journey.

Even had a loo roll so didn't have to search and unpack straight away ! The swimming pool was used daily, our 17 month old was in his element.

I am 31 weeks pregnant and found everything about the cottage comfy and cosy. The beds are lovely (and already made up on arrival - a bonus!).

A nice quiet location too, with lovely gardens and a great play area which was also used daily. So to sum up a truly relaxing and enjoyable stay in a thoughtfully planned home from home - thank you.
D Palmer, May 2010

We really enjoyed our second stay at Bramblewood.

Thank you for the kids' Easter Eggs: it was really thoughtful
of you.

We even managed a couple of barbecues this time.
L Kett April 2010   (second visit, and rebooked for 2011)

We have had a lovely week again. I really enjoyed going swimming and I can nearly swim by myself now. The Eden project was interesting and I would recommend it. We also went to Lydford Gorge, the Falls were beautiful. I managed to have a dip in one!

Northcott Mouth Beach is good fun for building sand castles and looking for crabs, but I really liked the new play area, especially when the Easter Bunny left eggs around there and in our garden.
Ellie Richards (aged 6)  - Granddaughter

Thank you for a very restful holiday at Bramblewood.

V Sumner, October 2009

We had a fab time and Bramblewood was lovely – it was a real home from home.

The location is lovely too – surrounded by countryside but so close to Bude.

Thanks for the little extras too – like the tea /coffee tray and milk in the fridge (and not forgetting the biscuits)

H. Bradley, Sept 2009  (and rebooked for July 2010)

The swimming pool was a real bonus as it is only 30 seconds walk (if that!) from Bramblewood and we spent hours there.

The children also loved the adventure playground.

The surroundings were beautiful and it was so peaceful. Poughill is also well situated for attractions in both Devon and Cornwall, with it being so close to the Devon border so there was a vast choice of what to do .

Bude was only a few minutes away and the beaches there are lovely for all ages and it's a nice little town. The owners of the cottage were very helpful and friendly. We will definitely visit again.’

The Andrews Family, August 2009

We have had a lovely relaxing week, mixing business with pleasure (sourcing vintage treasures for our website: www.lovemissdaisy.com).

The cottage is well-equipped & comfy & the perfect location for sightseeing  - we fitted in Boscastle, Tintagel, Bodmin, Padstow & enjoyed the lovely beaches & town of Bude.

Thank you for providing the wi-fi (a major factor for us in choosing this cottage, essential for our work).

Everyone has been so friendly & helpful in Cornwall & we would love to stay longer!

T Bradley, July 2009

We’ve loved staying at Bramblewood – well equipped and home from home feel made us feel really comfortable.

Fantastic facilities. Kids have really enjoyed swimming every day and the games room is great.

Visited Tintagel, Boscastle, Crooklets, Summerleaze (great!), Sandymouth, Clovelly. Milky Way was a fantastic day out.

Our kids are 3 and 6 and absolutely loved it.

The Conway Family, May 2009

Wi-Fi was very useful.

Cottage very comfortable and well equipped. Thank you for a lovely holiday cottage – we hope to return one day.
The Jones Family, April 2009

Pool was fantastic and we used it a lot. My six-year-old had a couple of sessions (in the play area) and enjoyed himself, especially the play house & swinging tyres.

Another great holiday with brilliant weather yet again for February half term (as last year).

J Traynier, February 2009 (second visit)

Lovely break – very comfortable here

The Pratt family, January 2009

Lovely warm cottage with everything we could ask for. Lots of fun had in the games room and the pool. Kids couldn't get enough of the swimming pool and loved the play area at the bottom of the garden.

Milky Way Adventure Park- lots to do for the children & adults on the drop slides !

Thanks for a great week in your lovely cottages.

The Marsden Family Oct 08 (Booked both Bramblewood and Blackberry)

We've had a great holiday and visited many places. At Hartland Abbey we walked a mile to the beach. We found the cottage featured as Barton Cottage in the recent production of "Sense and Sensibility" on television. The Abbey itself was interesting and the visit was worthwhile simply for the pretty walk in the sunshine to the beach.

Thank you for giving us such a comfortable base.
J Brooker Sept 08

We had a fantastic week at Bramblewood. It was a very peaceful and relaxing holiday. The cottage is lovely - very warm and homely, and thoughtfully decorated.  The play area, games room and pool were fantastic. The library of books and videos suited all ages!

Bude is a beautiful place and although the weather was variable, we went on walks, to the beach and shopping. I would love to return.

Had a lovely week at this really comfortable cottage. The field archery at Kilkhampton was the hit of the holiday!

So much to do and really enjoyed the cottage - so many nice touches and the pool and table tennis were perfect for kids - really delighted with the accommodation -just easy comfortable convenience.
The Russell Family July 08

We had a great week with our friends staying in another cottage (at Trevalgas)

The kids loved the pool and play area and husband appreciated the wi-fi access. Local beaches superb (Sandymouth and Northcott). Further afield near Padstow, a great family beach at Harlyn Bay.

Rick Stein's fish and chips for tea afterwards - superb!!

Port Issac - well worth the trip - dressed crab straight from the sea from the fishery down by the harbour - gorgeous!!

We also visited the Eden Project and Fowey nearby is a lovely harbour/village. Love this area of the country and will be back!
The Farmer Family June 08

Came here with my Mum (78) for a break. Good base and lots to see.

Beautiful site, small enough to be private, yet not isolated. Everything provided for (unusually so, ie kitchen roll, loo rolls, salt, pepper, dish cloth)  so great when you arrived. New oven excellent, grill and hob very responsive - liked it.

Gardens gorgeous and peaceful. Very, very well organised booking - Katherine efficient, helpful and friendly, and online booking form a wonderful idea. All went so smoothly it was excellent. Thank you
S. H. Taylor   May 08

B
eautiful cottage, lovely surroundings. Stayed here the same week as friends and found the site safe and pleasant for children who used the whole place as if they had lived here for years!

A true home from home with the added bonus of the swimming pool, and a great base from which to explore the local area. Padstow, Boscastle and plenty of beautiful beaches were within easy reach.
R Norton April 08

Bramblewood is very well equipped for a family. We had days out in Bude, Padstow, Eden Project, Milky Way, Tintagel and Launceston.

Cold frosty weather most of the week, cottage warm and comfortable.

The Boyes-Hodgson Family Feb 08

R
eally enjoyable Xmas and New Year stay in Bramblewood Cottage  - v comfortable and warm. Our best day was Padstow, picturesque harbour and interesting shopping with more than a smattering of Rick Stein influences!   Bude an interesting town, of many parts! All in all a great two weeks
The Aitchison Family   Jan 08

We had a good stay. We found everything we needed in this home very well equipped – especially for our twins aged 2½ years!

T
hey loved the pool – what a luxury  - usually had it to ourselves. As for the other folk we loved beaches especially Northcott – very quiet… Crackington Haven – good cakes in tea shop. All in all v nice week.
L van der Kooij    Sept 0

The highlight of the week has got to be seeing dolphins leaping and playing just off shore in Widemouth bay. We hired bikes from Bideford and followed the Tarka trail, lovely flat route with superb countryside views.

We have enjoyed body boarding on every beach, hired a kayak at Tamar Lakes, went to Lydford Gorge and Hartland Quay..

Ate at 'Life's a Beach' -  fantastic seafood with lovely views over beach at Summerleaze.

P Barron   August 07

This was a return visit to the Bude area for our family after an absence of more than ten years. It has lost none of its earlier appeal! We have always loved the canal and walking out to the breakwater to watch the waves and surfers near at hand. A rowing boat on the canal and crazy golf are an essential part of the experience.

Bramblewood has been an ideal base with all possible creature comforts. We have appreciated breakfasting on the terrace. The swimming pool has been a daily destination for those of us who aren't into cliff-top running. The bright flowerbeds, numerous butterflies and flocks of house martins circling overhead have been a delight.

All things considered it is hard to imagine 'a more congenial spot' for a family holiday.

T Davies  July 07

Great cottage and really well equipped.

The children loved the swimming pool which they used everyday even though they'd been in the sea every day!

The field was good for our games of cricket and rounders matches. Thank you.

B Pendlebury June 07

A beautiful cottage within a beautiful setting. All the family enjoyed it very much.

The Milky Way was a real plus point. I would choose a dry day to get the most out of it.

The swimming pool was used every day - it was fantastic. Thank you.

H Hardwick  May 07

I just wanted to thank you for another wonderful holiday - the children said they would much prefer to go to Trevalgas than go abroad, and they have been on the go non-stop (think we need another week to recover)!!

Thank you again for making our stay so comfortable.
S Henley     April 07 (second visit)

We had a lovely holiday and the cottage was great. The beds were very comfortable and the kitchen was very well equipped. Louise loved all the videos - especially Sooty!

We will certainly recommend the cottage and look forward to visiting ourselves  in the future
J Powell   Feb 06

Thoroughly enjoyed our Christmas stay here.  Thank goodness for the dishwasher!

The cottage warm and homely. Boys had fun in the pool and playing pool and table tennis.

All had fun at the local beach and looking around shops and local attractions.

T Grey   Dec 06

We have had a wonderful week, even though my 6 month old daughter had an ear infection!  The local doctors' surgery was brilliant - they saw us really quickly and the pharmacy was contained in the surgery.

We had a great day out at Padstow -  purchased crab lines and caught a few in the harbour which the boys loved.  Went to a beautiful rugged beach - Hartland Quay - really stunning coastline and the boys loved it as there was sand, rocks and big waves, what more could boys want! OK for 3-wheeled pushchair too.

Thank you Katherine for all your efficient help beforehand and the cottage was well stocked with everything you need for a family.

S Row October 06

Loved it here, thanks Katherine for everything.

Pool great - the kids loved Crooklets Bay. Beach was fantastic for rock-pooling.

Don't want to go home!
S Keene Sept 06

We have had a great week here, and have been out and about everyday.

We have 15 year old girl/boy twins and each of them brought along a friend, so entertaining four 15 year olds had seemed a bit daunting! However they loved being here.

They had surf lessons with 'The Big Blue' and did tons of body boarding - even catching sight of Gwyneth Paltrow on more than one occasion!

We found the cottage to be so well equipped, we wanted for nothing. Thank you so much for everything.

J Purvis   August 06

We really enjoyed our stay here. The gardens were probably at their peak for the year.

Bramblewood was very well equipped, and had everything we needed  - and more.
C Broadbridge July 06    (rebooked for summer 07)

We enjoyed the holiday very much and the weather was excellent.

It has renewed our faith in self catering after some bad experiences.

Our daughter, grandson and son-in-law also enjoyed it very much and I am sure that some time in the future we or they shall use Bramblewood again.
A Kilshaw   June 06

Great to have the extra facilities on site - we used the pool every day - the kids loved it.

The play area was also used regularly - the 8 yr old had lots of fun.

Lovely location  - we very much enjoyed the cottage and the surroundings.
R Hafner May 06

I am sure we will make the return trip to Trevalgas at some point as it is a lovely place and the children loved the pool, especially my disabled son as it was very therapeutic for him. Each time we went , we were the only ones there, so we had lots of space, and the water was so lovely and warm.
S Henley April 0
6  (rebooked for 07)

Excellent cottage, very well equipped, beds actually comfortable, and we all slept well.

The children loved the space to play and the assault course was good.
J Tubb Feb 06

As usual we had a great time.   Loads of places to visit, including Tintagel, Crackington Haven, Clovelly, and St Michael's Mount.
Mevagissey and Polperro are worth visiting and Padstow is great.

Try the speedboat, but take some waterproofs! We had a great two weeks and are going home at least
½ stone heavier!.
The Hendry Family Sept 05   (second of six visits to Bramblewood and Blackberry)

The Bentley family enjoying an ice-cream Thanks....we had a great time on holiday.  Bramblewood is lovely - it had everything we needed. We went to the Eden project, Looe, (lovely ride in a glass bottomed boat), and introduced the kids to surfing, mainly at Widemouth.

Enjoyed our stay - especially the use of the dishwasher!

Crooklets beach was great for the children - sandy beach, rock pools, good facilities  (cafe clean & good variety, toilets clean).

We recommend Tamar otter park -great for the little ones

First visit to Bramblewood. Facilities good, pool has been well used.

Thank you for good, clean accommodation.

Otter Sanctuary, Morwellham Quay and Eden Project represented good value.

Best fudge from the shop next to Boots in Bude
L Lawn, April 05

We found the cottage extremely well equipped and spacious.

It was clean and well kept with plenty of books, games, videos etc to keep the children occupied.

We have really enjoyed the stay and as usual don't want to go home!

We had a really enjoyable week here at Bramblewood.

The cottage was very comfortable and the extra equipment really helped.

It was a fabulous
way to spend New Year and get  away and relax.
H  Westcott, Jan 05

Found plenty to occupy ourselves and a two year old with several good parks- Brocklands and Crealy's in particular.

This made a very enjoyable break. We wouldn't hesitate to return and recommend.

Z  Fell, Sept 04

The cottage was very cosy and had everything we needed to keep ourselves amused.

The swimming pool and games room were a hit with the two older children (4 & 7 yrs)

The teenage Knight boys at the surf school on Summerleaze beach We all had a great time. Very comfortable in the cottage and have enjoyed the pool.  We used the BBQ twice, and were able to sit in the garden until 9.30pm. The boys have had a great time at the Big Blue Surf School, and we have worn ourselves out walking the various sections of the coast path between Bude and Crackington Haven.        J Knight July 04. The Knight's walk along the coastal path just south of Bude

It's really one of the best cottages we've stayed in.

Don't know how you can bear to leave it! Went for lots of strolls and enjoyed the views.
L Platt, June 04

Bramblewood's a very homely cottage equipped with all we needed.

Everything thought of- even a blank video tape.

Lovely garden and we enjoyed the swimming pool. Did lots of walking.... enjoyed Morwenstow,  Duck Pool and the canal walk at Bude.

We had high expectations of the cottage and we were not disappointed, as it is so well equipped.

We have thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Bramblewood.

This is our third time in Cornwall and our second time to this complex.

Everyone loved the pool and games room and it was nice to let the children into the play area for some freedom!

Couldn't fault the cottage- we have been made to feel so welcome.
M Hayes, July 03

We have enjoyed our week at Bramblewood- the cottage is lovely particularly the garden and park.

With 3 young children it was great to allow them some freedom on holiday.

Excellent facilities at the cottage.... our six year old had learnt to swim.

J Foulkes, May 03

What a lovely Christmas we have had.

Swimming, table tennis, and the pool table enjoyed every day.

Visited Eden project, Clovelly, Boscastle and Tintagel: all very quiet and a pleasure to walk around.

F Skevington, Dec 02

An excellent relaxing week with our 3 boys (15, 13, 11) who really enjoyed the pool for swimming and the games room.

The beaches were great - lots of interesting walks.  There's a great walk from Bude across the cliffs to Northcott Bay.

T Goddard, Oct 02

We've had a lovely week at Bramblewood, and would like to say thank you for providing such comfortable and well equipped accommodation. By far the best we have used.

The site is wonderful and very thoughtfully planned - the garden delightful.

The canal walk in Bude peaceful and relaxing. Will be back, and will recommend Bramblewood to friends and family.

M Hamilton, Sept 02

An excellent relaxing holiday. The beaches were amazing- great for surfing and rock pooling.

We made excellent use of the Bramblewood library which has a wide selection to cater for all needs.

J Walker, Aug 02

The cottage is of a very high standard, which is the reason why we returned, after first visiting 3 years ago.

The fencing segregating each cottage makes it 100% better - with the fabulous weather we have had a really enjoyable holiday.
